Job Description

Blue Water Thinking is seeking an experienced and dedicated Business Analyst to join our team, supporting a large project at the Department of Veterans Affairs. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform business process analysis and recommend improvements, ensuring optimal efficiency for our customers. This includes tasks such as as-is and to-be process mapping, gap analysis, and designing future state roadmaps.

Responsibilities:

• Gather and analyze client business needs, conducting interviews, workshops, and surveys to understand requirements and objectives.
• Develop business requirements and functional specifications, translating client needs into actionable tasks for project teams.
• Perform detailed business process analysis, including mapping current workflows and identifying gaps or inefficiencies.
• Recommend process improvements and optimization strategies, providing data-driven insights and practical solutions for enhancing operational efficiency.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings, recommendations, and business cases to clients and stakeholders.
• Facilitate stakeholder meetings and workshops, ensuring clear communication of project objectives and alignment between business and technical teams.
• Assist in project planning and execution, ensuring tasks align with project goals and are completed on time and within scope.
• Monitor the implementation of process improvements, tracking performance metrics and ensuring changes deliver expected business outcomes.

Support change management initiatives, ensuring successful adoption of new processes, systems, and tools by client teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
• 2 years of experience in business analysis, process improvement, or a similar role.
• Proven experience in gathering and documenting business requirements, conducting process analysis, and recommending process improvements.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex business problems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under tight deadlines, and adapt to evolving client needs and project scopes.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring thorough documentation and clear communication of analysis and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in federal government projects or healthcare environments.
• Experience working in a Program Management Office (PMO) environment, ensuring adherence to PMO standards, processes, and governance.
• Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or other relevant business analysis certification.
• Experience with business analysis frameworks, such as BABOK (Business Analysis Body of Knowledge)

Eligibility:

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance for this role.

Compensation:

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The proposed salary range for this position is outlined below.

Salary range: $65,000 – $80,000.
