BNL Consulting is actively seeking a Database Developer for twenty hours per week per week starting 10/1/2022. This opportunity will be remote. This is a corp-to-corp or 1099 contract position. The initial length of the contract will be twelve months with a potential option to extend the contract for an additional twelve months.
Role Summary
The Database Developer will support JMC clients by providing database support through the whole system life cycle support for a variety of software development activities. This role will install, tune, implement and upgrade DBMS installations and assist clients with schema design, code review, SQL query tuning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Design, implement, and test software for new development and existing systems.
- Experience acting as a DBA for PostgreSQL
- Design database tables and structures, views, functions, and stored procedures as needed to implement business needs.
- Write optimized SQL queries for integration with other applications.
- Create database triggers for use in automation.
- Maintain data quality and overseeing database security.
- Perform data loads and routine updates on an ongoing basis
- Work with relational databases and non-relational data storage technologies.
- Prepare DB Scripts for DML and DDL.
- Ensure all production and development systems are working and available for use.
- Effectively communicate technical and non-technical issues with staff across disciplines, including IT, public health, and project management.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science OR related field or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of advanced level proficiency in MS SQL (2014, 2017, 2019, 2022)
- 1+ years of experience with other relational databases such as PostgreSQL
- Application Database Performance Tuning to diagnose and resolve database performance issue
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and software development best practices
- Excellent presentation, organizational, writing, and communication skills
- Capability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to communicate with a broad array of individuals with varying technical aptitudes, professional backgrounds, and affiliations
