Borton-Lawson Engineering Hiring for Junior Staff Accountant Job at Wilkes-Barre, PA Full Time

As a junior staff accountant you will work through a lot of day-to-day transactions. This involves many areas including billing, AR collections, AP processing, payroll, month end close along with any other projects or requests of the Finance Team. This position reports to the Controller.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Process information for Accounts Payable including: inputting invoices, processing EFT payments, and updating and balancing cash.
• Process information for payroll including inputting new employee information, running payroll reports, reviewing timesheets and expense reports, and exporting time from payroll. Reconciles payroll with ADP reports.
• Prepare and process 1099 forms for tax reporting.
• AR invoicing and cash application, including uploading of invoices into third party portals
• Sales/use tax.
• Reconcile credit card statements.
• Record monthly journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts including variance analysis.
• Compile reports for month end and year- end financial purposes.
• Support team members to enhance team work and efficiency.
• Other duties as assigned to support the finance team.
• Ad-hoc projects centered on financial reporting and key metrics indicators.

Required Experience:

• Associates degree in Accounting and 2-5 years bookkeeping experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and Adobe.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Applicants with experience with Deltek/Vision accounting software and/or PennDOT’s ECMS system will be given preference.
