Role Synopsis
BPX is seeking to fill the position of Construction Specialist based in Orla, TX. The Specialist will work as a member of the Facilities Engineering and Construction Team. The team collaboratively designs, plans, and executes projects to deliver installations of new wellsite facilities and modifications to existing facilities. This role will be responsible for mechanical facility construction. The specialist will provide direction to and oversight of contract construction crews, ensure QA/QC of facility builds, ensure work is performed in accordance with BPX’s policies and Safe Work Practices, and work with the facilities engineers to generate design improvements. This role will be rotational, working a 14/14 schedule.

Key Accountabilities

• Directs contract crews performing mechanical construction
• Ensure work is completed per defined drawings and scope of work documents
• Ordering construction materials (pipes, valves, fittings)
• Cost tracking of construction spend
• Identify any high risk activities and elevate for appropriate level of risk assessment and approval
• Perform HSE verifications
• Participates in design reviews and root cause failure analyses
• Takes on an HSE leadership role, applying IOGP Life Saving Rules safety principles

Essential Experience and Job Requirements

• Candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in the construction of oil & gas facilities
• Ability to read and update P&ID’s
• Familiarity with piping codes (ASME B31.8, ASME B31.3, etc)

Desirable Criteria

• Familiarity with MOC, HAZOP, and PSSR processes
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong computer skills and data entry experience

Desirable Criteria

• Previous experience delivering midstream infrastructure as an employee of an independent and/or major E&P shale company.
