Position Summary
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) role at REACH CDC is a newly established position reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a key member of the leadership team. This strategic role involves oversight of organizational operations, ensuring alignment with REACH’s long-term goals and mission in affordable housing and community development.
The COO will be responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures across multiple areas, including finance, property operations, human resources, supportive services, and philanthropic operations. They will oversee internal teams and collaborate closely with the CEO and other senior leadership to establish seamless processes that foster organizational efficiency and impact.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record in financial and operational management along with proven leadership experience, ideally within the real estate or affordable housing sectors. This individual will play a critical role in driving operational excellence and innovation, ensuring REACH continues to effectively serve its community and advance its strategic priorities.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (“Must-Haves”)
- Demonstrated experience evaluating and refining operational processes to align with strategic priorities. Skilled at assessing systems and recommending improvements that drive efficiency and quality
- Direct property and asset management experience with a proven ability to oversee and implement practices that enhance financial performance. Proficient in analyzing property financial statements and identifying the root causes of issues
- Proven track record in change management, with demonstrated success in leading complex organizations through periods of growth and transformation
- Proficiency in management information systems (MIS) or a willingness to engage in training to develop skills in technology oversight. Experience leveraging data analytics and best practices to inform decision-making and improve efficiency across property management and resident services
- Extensive experience in affordable housing and its regulatory environment, including asset management and property operations knowledge. Familiar with nonprofit and government work, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while optimizing operational performance
- A diplomatic and approachable leader who builds relationships and fosters interdepartmental work. Experience in public speaking, decision-making, and conflict resolution
