SUMMARY
The HR Assistant performs functions that are general office duties and HR duties. These, include but are not limited to, coordinating benefits, compiling and maintaining files and records, answering telephone calls, administering benefits, leave, and enforcing company policies and procedures
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties will come up within the HR and administrative functions of this position and will be assigned.
Human Resource Duties:
Processes new hires, terminations, status changes, etc. in company HRIS
Processes benefit enrollments and terms, reconciles/audits benefit invoices with enrollments and terms.
Audit new hires to ensure all required information completed.
Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
Perform new hire orientation.
Processes COBRA packets and audits monthly statements.
Auditing and processing ACA eligibility for eligible employees.
Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Compiles and maintains records for use in employee files and inputs data for use in HR and payroll system.
Creates and updates HR forms as needed.
Collaborates and assists with other HR team members on various HR projects as well as with the Payroll team.
Utilizes the HR/Payroll system to access data to be used in various projects as requested; will become familiar with various HR specific systems that are used by the HR department.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related field or equivalent experience in human resources is required.. Possession of a working knowledge of federal and state employment standards and regulations is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS and REASONING ABILITY Ability to read, analyze, and interpret human resource information. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and respond to inquiries. Ability to effectively present information to applicants.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate and percent, and interpret bar graphs.
COMPUTER SKILLS Proficient in Microsoft Office and or Google Suite. Ability to enter and retrieve data using keyboard, mouse, computer systems, and other office equipment. Experience and proficiency with ADP or other HRIS system.

The employee frequently is required to walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
