SUMMARY OF POSITION
Brown University’s Pre-College Programs are a
leader in the field of higher education institutions that provide rigorous academic opportunities to students. These Programs
offer over 6000 high school students annually an opportunity to study a wide range of liberal arts subjects in over 300 courses
that reflect the breadth of Brown’s undergraduate open curriculumwhile strengthening their connection to a robust community of peer
scholars from around theworld. Students develop personal and social skills that are critical to success in the collegesetting and get a feel
for what college life is like – the responsibility, the freedom, and the newfriendships.
Brown also offers over 50 summer
Sports Camps for 3000 young athletes. Camps are led by Brown’s varsity coaches, their staff and current Brown student – athletes.
Through these camps, participants are able to improve upon their athletic skills and sports competencies while gaining valuable
experiences in teamwork, commitment, and personal responsibility.
The Division of Pre-College and Undergraduate Programs is dedicated
to ensuring a supportive, challenging, inclusive, and equitable living and learning environment for the Pre-College Students and
Sports Camp participants who hail from all 50 states in the U.S. and over 70 countries.
The Associate Director of Pre-College
Student Development contributes to these goals by facilitating opportunities for students to learn, grow, and develop outside of the
classroom through educational workshops, residential programming, community building and social/recreational events. The
result of this work is a vibrant campus and virtual experience that is developmental, fun, and memorable for all participants. The
Associate Director participates in the summer on-call duty rotation and supervises a cohort of graduate interns. Due to the on-call
requirements, the person in this position must be able to exercise good judgment with minimal sleep and must live within
35-minutes driving distance to the Brown University Campus. Evening and weekend hours will be required during the summer months.
