ABOUT US:
Brown University’s Pre-College Programs is a leader in
the field of higher education institutions that provide rigorous academic opportunities to students. These programs offer students
an opportunity to study a wide range of liberal arts subjects that reflect the breadth of Brown’s undergraduate Open
Curriculum while strengthening their connection to a robust community ofpeer scholars from around the world. Students develop personal and
social skills that are criticalto success in the college setting and get a feel for what college life is like – the responsibility,
thefreedom, and the new friendships.
Brown University also offers over 50 summer sports camps for athletes. Camps are led
by Brown’s varsity coaches, their staff, and current Brown student-athletes. Many camps also feature guest coaches from other
universities. Camps are held on the Brown campus which is located in historic Providence, Rhode Island. Overnight campers reside in one
of Brown’s residence halls and eat meals in the dining facilities.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
The
Division of Pre-College and Undergraduate Programs is dedicated to ensuring a supportive, challenging, inclusive, and developmentally
appropriate living and learning environment for the approximately 6000 pre-college students and sports camp participants who hail from
all 50 states in the U.S. and over 70 countries. The Summer Assistant Director for Pre-College Student Life contributes to these
goals by fostering the growth and development of graduate and seasonal staff members. The Summer Assistant Director will directly
supervise a cohort of graduate staff, providing ongoing training, consultation, and mentorship as they develop student support,
customer service, supervision, and project management skills. Graduate staff are normally current students earning their Master’s
degrees in Student Affairs, Counseling, or other related field. The graduate staff supervises cohorts of seasonal staff who are
generally college-aged students. Seasonal staff live with the pre-college students in the University’s residence halls. The
Summer Assistant Director for Pre-College Student Life will also participate in the summer on-call duty rotation.
Night and
weekend work is required. This is a 3-month position with an estimated start date of May 23, 2022 and an expected end date of August
12, 2022. Summer Assistant Directors will be provided a summer meal plan. Due to the on-call requirements, the person in this position
must live within a 25-minutes driving distance to the Brown University campus. On-campus housing will be provided, as needed.
