This is a HANDS-ON position for the right candidate. Builders Trust currently has 27 employees and a two person accounting/HR department, requiring the VP to work on details at all times.
Directs and manages company fiscal functions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Manages accounting and HR activities, prepares and analyzes monthly financial statements and monitors and reconciles cash flow activities. Assists with actuary, excess carriers, banking contacts, investment managers, accounting firm, auditors and WCA when needed. Prepares and analyzes budget, tax strategies, refund analysis and other financial reporting. Reconciles or reviews reconciliations of bank accounts, investment portfolio, fixed assets, general ledger accounts, adjusting entries, and accounts payable functions including expense reports, credit card management and vehicle expense analysis.
Manages strategic human resources planning to provide the organization with the best people talent available. Administers all employee benefit programs, coordinates renewals. Manages the human resources information systems database and time clock management including time off management. Processes payroll and ensures accurate and timely tax filings as well as compliance with applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
College degree in accounting, minimum of 10 years of accounting and supervisory experience required. Must have experience in administration of benefits and compensation programs and thorough knowledge of applicable laws relating to HR and accounting issues. Requires outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.
