Accounting Assistant Job Description:

Busboys and Poets is seeking a skilled and competent Accounting Assistant to perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping, and financial tasks in the office. Accounting Assistant responsibilities include keeping financial records updated and preparing reports for the Accounting Department. The Accounting Assistant will run various accounting software programs to process business transactions such as daily sales reports, utility transactions, gift card transactions, accounts payable and receivable, and other accounting tasks. A successful Accounting Assistant should be familiar with basic accounting procedures and have a flair for numbers to ensure that the company’s daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively.

Salary range: $50,000 to $55,000
This position will report to: VP of Finance

Job Responsibilities:

• Reconcile daily sales reports, cash sales, and cash deposits.

• File and maintain daily sales and other accounting records on monthly basis.

• Create utility invoices and payments and maintain utility records.

• Communicate with vendor to resolve invoices and payment issues.

• Manage and prepare invoices on daily basis and route them for approval.

• Gift card sales and reconciliation.

• Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department.

• Enter daily key data of financial transactions in database.

• Create journal entries and prepare monthly accounting closing entries.

• Research, track, restore accounting, and documentation problems and discrepancies.

• Complete and manage accounting assignments in a timely manner.

• Responsible for any additional task when needed.

Requirements/Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business is preferred

• 2+ years of technical experience in day-to-day accounting.

• Professional computer software knowledge and technical skills with spreadsheets and financial reports.

• Strong knowledge of accounting software, preferably Restaurant365.

• Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures.

• Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks.

• Accuracy and attention to details.

• Highly organized and self-directed.

• Ability to perform multi-tasks with limited supervision.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 – $55,000.00 per year
