The Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) is seeking a skilled, knowledgeable, and highly motivated team player to serve as the Business and Finance Officer III (BFO III) within the department’s Finance and Compliance Services (FACS) section. This opportunity would support the Housing and Community Development (HCD) Division.
The BFO III position presents a unique opportunity to an individual seeking to utilize and expand their leadership skills, provide data analysis and recommendations, and leverage partnerships to effectively manage financial resources and provide support to internal and external stakeholders.
Specifically, the position serves as the lead fiscal analyst for the Division’s Housing Stability team and oversee the passthrough funds to King County Regional Homeless Authority (KCHRA). The position plays an instrumental role in developing budget to actuals reports, coordinating financials with HCD program leads, processing accounting transactions, tracking, and documenting financial decisions, and ad hoc analysis as necessary.
The position reports directly to the Housing Stability BFO IV. The position manages the day-to-day financial management of the Document Recording Fees, Veterans, Seniors Services Levy, Regional Affordable Housing Program, Community Development Block Grant, Consolidated Homeless Grant funds including developing budget to actuals reports, coordinating financials with program leads, processing accounting transactions, tracking, and documenting financial decisions, and ad hoc analysis as necessary.

WORK SCHEDULE/CONDITIONS: This position is scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm. This position is exempt from overtime. This position is represented by PROTEC17.
MISSION CRITICAL POSITION STATUS: This position has been designated Non-Mission Critical. Unless otherwise directed by the County Executive, department director or agency head, all employees, regardless of designation, are expected to report to work or request leave during an emergency or inclement weather. TELEWORKING INFORMATION: The work associated with this position will be performed or conducted through a combination of teleworking and onsite work and meetings. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
