The Western Piedmont Council of Governments (WPCOG) is currently seeking energetic, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
candidates for the position of Business and Virtual Services Coordinator. The WPCOG is an innovative and forward-thinking
organization dedicated to addressing planning issues for the region. Situated in the beautiful rolling hills and mountains of western
North Carolina, with ample opportunities for recreation, shopping, and dining abounding in the region, the area is an ideal place
to call home. The region contains great natural resources from the slopes of Grandfather Mountain to five major lakes along the
Catawba River. The region contains a population of about 371,000 in Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, and Catawba counties.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
The WPCOG Workforce Development Department is staff to the WPCOG Workforce Development Board who is responsible for providing, planning and implementation of employment and training activities as required by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) for the local area, as well as providing oversight, coordination and guidance of the local NCWorks Career Centers. In addition to the workforce development director, the department consists of three staff members, the workforce program manager, the workforce program coordinator, and the business and virtual services coordinator. Workforce Board staff provide technical assistance and oversight of three career centers in the WPCOG region (Burke, Caldwell and Catawba counties). Oversight of the NCWorks Career Center also includes guidance and planning for the state and service provider professional staff who work in the region’s career centers, which established the integrated service delivery model for career and business services.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Business and Virtual Services Coordinator works to enhance working relationships between the Workforce Development
Board and area businesses, economic developers and NCWorks Career Centers, including provision of accurate and complete
information regarding availability of and eligibility for workforce development business services. To accomplish these goals, the
Business and Virtual Services Coordinator will help businesses identify workforce needs, aid in accessing services, identify growth
sectors and career opportunities in those sectors, provide technical assistance to NCWorks Career Center – based business
services representatives and promote a culture of continuous improvement and customer service. The Business and Virtual
Services Coordinator will help develop and implement virtual workshops and services according to area and jobseeker needs; as
well as update and maintain information exchanges on Western Piedmont Workforce Development’s social media platforms while
keeping Western Piedmont Council of Government’s Communications Manager updated for website validation.

SALARY & BENEFITS
The hiring range for this position is $50,852 – $63,565 depending on qualifications and experience. New hires are eligible for up to
a 5% increase with the successful completion of probationary period.
