Overview:
CableCom is looking for Coax Splicers to join our team in Salt Lake City, Utah. This position is Sign on Bonus eligible for $1,000, and will be paid out in increments at 30 days and 90 days from hire for those that qualify. Primary responsibilities include ability to splice/test/repair cables/wires in both indoor and outdoor settings, read, create and maintain splicing diagrams, maintain activities surrounding the assigned work site(s), and taking splicing field notes. Candidate must have 12 months of experience splicing coax or successful completion of an applicable training program. Must be capable of working in all temperatures, climates, and weather conditions, and be able to pass background and drug screen. We offer competitive pay and an extensive benefits package.
Responsibilities:
Performs tasks associated with the electronic upgrade and splicing of cable
Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation
Basic daily maintenance of provided vehicle: check fluids, clean and organize vehicle
Self-supervise all operations to ensure that all splicing operations are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications
Safely operate and use bucket truck to complete daily construction assignments as needed (potentially climb poles)
Field train and control/oversee the work of other Splicers when necessary
Complete daily production reports, mark-up maps, keep track of work hours, complete “as-built maps” for areas built and track daily production
Reconcile all issued parts and materials on a daily basis to ensure accurate material usage counts
Frequently work independently
Other splicing related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Ability to read and build from blueprints and/or wire diagrams
Ability to distinguish colors
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Must be able to pass pre-employment background check, motor vehicle check, and drug test
Possess a valid driver’s license (class “C” minimum) or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license for the position (possibly class “B” – light commercial)
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber
OSP telecommunication construction experience; cable experience
Experience in splicing, balancing, and documenting CATV systems
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed with or without assistance
Must be able to work nights and weekends, if necessary
Must be able to work in all weather conditions
