Job Title: K-8 Teacher
Reports To: Regional Lead Teacher/Regional Principal/Director/Head of School
FLSA Status: Exempt
Department: Elementary and Middle School
Overview:
Virtual schools are new models in public education. They look both backward to what we know works well in educating children, and forward to see how technology can help us implement these strategies with children. Virtual school teachers are part of a pioneering effort. Our teachers, therefore, need to share the school’s pioneering mission and approach.
Summary:
Our teachers are responsible for ensuring that students achieve mastery of learning objectives. They provide guidance, instruction and support, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs. The teacher is a highly qualified instructional teacher responsible for the delivery of specified course content both online and in person.

Further Considerations:
Most positions are full time. However, given the fact that some enrolled students live in more rural and remote parts of California, the need for part time teachers to serve these students locally is crucial. Also, as a school with open enrollment, there are times when there are not enough students yet to fill a full time position, therefore providing an opening for a part time teaching position.
A part time position involves all of the same responsibilities as a full time position, but carries a reduced class load. Part time teachers must have the ability to move to full time if needed.
Assignment of Students:
