Position: Engineering Teacher

The Opportunity:
The Instructor for the Engineering Program reports to the Executive Director, Rindge School of Technical Arts (RSTA), which is the Career & Technical Education department of Cambridge Rindge & Latin School. This is a 10-month, school year, teaching position working with a diverse student population in an urban setting. The instructor is responsible for developing and implementing a Chapter 74-approved curriculum to integrate career & technical and academic learning for Engineering students in grades 9-12. This curriculum, which is based on the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) program to increase the number of engineering students entering college, will involve all aspects of the Engineering industry, including mechanical, electrical, architectural, environmental, robotics, automated manufacturing, and the role of Engineering in the economy. The instructor is responsible for educating students in underlying principles of technology, planning, and technical skills related to the Engineering curriculum. Position is effective the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year.
Duties:
The Engineering Instructor will teach a curriculum that will prepare students in all aspects of Engineering; work independently and with colleagues to develop an Engineering program and curriculum; implement the curriculum to ensure that students receive appropriate career and technical education and academic opportunities to meet educational requirements necessary for further career and technical education, and to qualify for employment opportunities in the Engineering industry; work effectively with a diverse student population, including some students with limited proficiency in English and/or with disabilities; plan and implement appropriate upgrades to Engineering equipment to reflect industry directions; maintain all Engineering equipment in good working order; ensure instruction in and compliance with all health and safety regulations; maintain an appropriate professional license and level of content knowledge that includes summer study at a Project Lead The Way institution, work with an active Program Advisory Committee (PAC) that meets a minimum of twice annually; maintain a program of study for Engineering that meets all requirements of Chapter 74 law; and perform all other duties as assigned by the RSTA Executive Director.
