Carolina HealthChoice is accepting resumes for an organized, experienced Medical Assistant in the Sumter area. The purpose of this position is to support patient care delivery including verifying patient information, confirming the purpose of the visit, and recording medical history. Candidates must know how to perform duties such as taking vital signs, venipunctures, and other basic laboratory tests. Also, must be familiar with proper waste disposal techniques. Some basic clerical duties are also required. This position is currently part-time M/T/TH/F.

Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Set up exam rooms daily:

· Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain equipment/instruments.

· Make sure to write the date the medication is opened on new bottles of medication.

· Ensure equipment sterilization, as required by OSHA.

• Prepare patients for treatment:

• Accompanying them to the examining room and help them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment
• Arrange the examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Place ice packs on the feet if patient is being treated for nerve pain.
• Take vital signs; confirm purpose of visit or treatment
• Explain treatment procedures to the patients in a manner that puts them at ease.

• Verify patient information:

• Talk with the patient
• Review and/or record medical history
• Ask about their progress.
• If patient is new, ensure the correct documentation is correct and signed.

Administrative Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Utilize computer applications as needed

• Serve as backup for answering telephones and scheduling patient appointments
• Serve as backup for greeting patients and other visitors
• Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patients and/or physicians.
• Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to practitioners.
• Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, medications, etc.)
• Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager and/or Practitioner.
