Summary:

This is a full time remote position within the Project Engineering division at CBM of America Monday – Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm. This role will be involved with estimating the successful deployments of some of the most complex networks and exciting new construction projects across North America. These projects are inclusive of: Data Centers, Central Offices, Long Haul Network Deployments, Site Audits, Site Relocations, Retrofits, Fiber Optic Characterization, and many other unique projects for our customers. The Estimator develops project quotations and EF&I (engineering, furnish, and installation) cost estimates using a variety of data and input from various teams. The estimator develops quotations that are in conformance with CBM’s contracts with our customers and are setting up the project for desired amount of hours and expenses to support projects.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma is necessary. Some college or technical school a plus.
• Telecommunications, Data Center, Central Office, Data Center Technician, Installation, Site Survey, or other industry related experience is a plus.
• Estimating experience is a plus. Willing to train with relevant engineering or installation experience.
• An advanced understanding of Microsoft Office Suites such as Word and Excel.
• Understanding of Central Office and Data Center installation requirements, Overhead cable infrastructure, Structure/Backbone fiber cabling, Low/High voltage DC power cabling, Hot/Cold aisle containment solutions a plus.
• Ability to learn customer engineering databases and software.
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks and priorities and must be able to consistently work under and meet strict deadlines.
• Must possess good leadership, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex of documents, including technical specifications, white papers, central office drawings and documents.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

Responsibilities:

• Develop firm price and budgetary quotations that accurately capture the costs and desired profitability associated with a project
• Read and interpret site survey reports, bills of material, customer SOWs, and other relevant documentation for incorporation of salient details into the completed estimate
• Coordinate with the engineering and installation teams to validate effort associated with project tasks
• Work independently on deadline sensitive jobs or projects with little direction
• Read and understand site survey data, able to think through the information presented and put together a summary of material with little guidance.
• Schedule, perform, and write-up site surveys when necessary
• Regularly interfaces with customer representatives (field engineers, vendor managers). Should be at level where can solve customer problems issues with limited guidance
• Interface with “internal customers” such as detail engineers, site survey engineers, installation supervisors, lead installers, and installation technicians.
• Working knowledge of equipment drawings, T-BASD drawings, and material spec sheets and white papers. Also has ability to seek out information not readily available
• Able to engineer jobs using a full understanding of customer quality documents such as Installation Practices, Engineering Practices, CORE documents, etc.

Engineering Skills and Reasoning Ability:

• Ability to logically think through the process of telecommunication installation and engineering.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical specifications in order to translate such information into a detailed engineering spec.
• Ability to apply principles of logic to a wide range of intellectual, technical, and practical problems.
• Ability to use common engineering tools effectively such as a tape measure, calculator, power lead calculator, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 – $35.00 per hour
