The Benefits and Leave Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan.
Manages and monitors all leave requests including FMLA, STD, and LTD, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting.
Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes
Works with benefits vendors to troubleshoot issues impacting employees
Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
Performs quality checks of benefits-related data
Handles benefit enrollment for new hires as well as the annual company-wide open enrollment process
Enrolls employees with carriers and processes life status changes
Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries
Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability, and FMLA
Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities
Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment
Administers the tuition reimbursement program
Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges
5 years of benefits and leave experience
Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws in multi-state settings
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Ability to work flexible and/or extended hours, if needed, to meet the job requirements.
The incumbent typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday. The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 20 pounds.
