The HR Generalist will report to the Human Resources Manager.
As an HR G your core responsibilities will include:
· Job Standards
o Bachelor of Business Administration with emphasis on personnel management, or related preferred, or equivalent experience and/or education in human resources
o A minimum of 12 months experience in human resources or related field, preferably in a healthcare setting
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
o Strong knowledge of State and Federal employment laws.
o Professional image and the ability to foster positive employee relations
o Ability to safely perform all of the essential job functions without causing harm to self or others with or without reasonable accommodation
· Essential Job Functions
o Adheres to the philosophy, policies and procedures of Cedar Crest, Inc.
o Understands and supports the Resident Bill of Rights
o Adheres to all policies and procedures regarding resident and staff safety
o Complies with state and federal law in all aspects of hiring and employee relations.
o Selects and utilizes the most cost effective means of notifying maximum number of appropriate applicants of facility job openings. These may include, but are not limited to: internal job postings, placement agencies, schools, job fairs, and advertisements as necessary.
o Interviews, screens and, when appropriate, tests internal and external applicants to identify those best qualified.
o Completes a thorough background check on all potential candidates including: criminal background inquiries; verifying employment and educational history; checking driving records (if applicable), etc.
o Assists the department manager or supervisor in making a hiring decision and makes job offers to job applicants selected.
o Notifies on a timely basis those candidates who were interviewed but not selected for employment.
o Arranges physical examinations, TB skin tests or chest x-rays, and drug testing for new hires.
o Schedules new employees for the New Employee Orientation.
o Reviews the employee handbook and benefits with new employees, including benefit enrollment eligibility and procedures.
o Responds to employee questions/concerns on a timely basis.
o Assists management staff in development of accurate job descriptions.
o Makes recommendations for new/revised HR policies and procedures.
o With guidance of the HR Manager, conducts or assists in conducting investigations in response to employee complaints or complaints concerning employees. Interviews witnesses, gathers evidence, and files report with conclusions/recommendations with HR Manager and other applicable manager(s)
o Upon request, conducts conflict resolution meetings with employees and supervisors.
o Solicits employee feedback on a variety of issues via exit interviews, employee opinion surveys, focus groups etc.
o Assists in investigating and responding to employment related claims, such as: unemployment, discrimination, wage & hour etc.
o Participates in in-service presentations to management staff and employees on a variety of employment-related topics
o Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
· Physical and Mental Requirements
o Ability to push/pull objects using up to 25 pounds of force
o Ability to lift/carry objects up to 25 pounds
o Ability to perform moderately difficult manipulative skills such as data entry
o Ability to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as keyboarding skills
o Ability to walk, stand, sit and squat and reach above shoulders
o Ability to hear normal sounds within some background noise as in answering the phone
o Ability to speak clearly and make self understood
o Ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption

Pay: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour
