Position Description
Our Clinician is responsible for providing direct therapeutic services to individuals, families and groups through clinical sessions and case management support to clients using the 2Gen approach. The Clinician will work in the home and office setting while operating within agency policies and procedures and practices. Assesses for social service needs of clients and makes appropriate referrals.

Essential Job Duties

• Provide direct clinical treatment to individuals, couples, families, and groups using a variety of modalities. Services are provided in the office, with home visitation and community meetings offered when clinically appropriate.
• Conduct intake appointments, client orientation, and mental health assessments for the initiation of services of new clients.
• Performs a variety of casework duties, including obtaining, analyzing and evaluating data necessary to implement client services.
• Actively participates in reflective, clinical and administrative supervision with the clinical supervisor at a frequency to be determined by the therapist and supervisor together.
• Provide advocacy for clients and maintain communication with providers
• Provides linkage to other appropriate resources, including intensive case management services, based upon the needs of clients and families.
• Prepare clinical documentation and paperwork, such as a client genogram, timeline, mental health assessment, additional assessment/evaluation tools, daily progress notes, treatment plans, transfer and closing summaries, weekly caseload lists, monthly statistical reports, etc.
• Conducts crisis assessments and responds appropriately to client crisis needs.
• Actively participates in department meetings, case consultations and peer consultation process.
• Participates in Centers community events and actively fosters a supportive community environment.
• Promotes trauma resiliency among the Centers and Funder community by participating in and contributing to projects that foster a trauma informed environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Program Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or an appropriate human service field
• License: LCPC, LCSW, or LMFT in the state of Illinois
• Minimum of two years experience in the human service field
• Knowledge of and proficiency in computer programs, i.e.; Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.
• Demonstrate a big degree of skill in problem solving and working effectively with people
• Must be detail oriented and flexible
• Knowledge of Community Mental Health approaches
• Ability to communicate effectively and serve as a liaison to primary referral sources, families, team members, school districts, community agencies, and signatory partners.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of individual, family and group approaches to counseling.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices
• Ability to relate and develop a mutual respect for the families and children served.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license
• Must have daily access to a vehicle, proof of vehicle insurance
• Background check conducted as a condition of employment
• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office or at minimum, Microsoft Word
• Must have reasonable proficiency in keyboarding

Work Environment:
The typical work environment is in an office setting, but may on occasion be outside the office within the Chicagoland Area. The noise level will vary depending on the location.  External vehicles, office equipment, machinery, telephone and conversations produce noise.  May require nights, weekends or holiday work.  May be stressful due to the demands of the position.

The employee may be required to work in or visit offices in the city of Chicago and suburbs and must be able to transport himself/herself to various locations.
