Description of Position
The Administrative Assistant (“AAP”) is a position created to support the key leadership of Cherokee Charter Academy. The AAP is accountable to and receives direction from the School Director, Assistant Principals, Business Manager, and other key leaders (“School Leadership”).
Qualifications
1. At least 1 year of administrative experience, ideally support at a school (or equivalent);
2. Advanced organizational skills;
3. Experience interacting with parents and key stakeholders;
4. Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills;
5. Microsoft Office proficiency;
6. Ability to organize and manage data;
7. Ability to manage priorities (e.g. calendar management);
8. Advanced telephone communication skills and etiquette;
9. Ability to maintain with ultimate discretion any confidential information.
Expectations
The following expectations are established for the AAP:
1. Develop and nurture an ongoing understanding of the nature of a professional position with Cherokee Charter Academy through observation and inquiry of colleagues, participating in continuing education, and reading relevant books and periodicals;
2. Maintain complex and detailed calendars;
3. Tactfully screen incoming calls and emails, while maintaining the highest degree of discretion regarding important confidential information or communications;
4. Organize event and team meeting(s) logistics such as location, transport, travel, lodging, and other key aspects;
5. Assist relevant team members in on-boarding and off-boarding of team members or clientele;
6. Communicate competently and professionally through all relevant communication mediums;
7. Maintain assigned data for the school;
8. Work collaboratively and cooperatively with colleagues and extend deference to more experienced colleagues;
9. Earn the respect of the School Leadership and non-management personnel by demonstrating the qualities of a servant leader and leading by example;
10. Fully commit to the growth, prosperity, and success of Cherokee Charter Academy;
11. Provide constructive input to the School Leadership and colleagues;
12. Assist in editing spreadsheets and presentations in advance of relevant meetings;
13. Always speak positively of others with whom the AAP works, including co-workers and clients, even in the face of more challenging personalities;
14. Contribute to a culture of positive reinforcement, encouragement, and respect;
15. Other duties as assigned by the School Leadership.
These expectations are broadly offered and broadly defined and will serve as the basis of evaluation of the AAP’s job performance.
Accountability
The AAP is accountable to the School Leadership and will be evaluated by the same.
