Cheyney University invites applicants for the Director of Student Financial Services. The position provides
leadership and oversight of all financial aid operations and processes for the University including Federal, state, institutional, private
financial aid programs including scholarships, student employment, educational grants, and loans. Additionally, the Director ensures
accuracy of all student accounts, billing, and collection practices while providing excellent customer service toward increasing student
access, persistence, and graduation.
Essential Job
Functions:
Knowledge, Skills & abilities: Ability to handle sensitive issues and information with confidentiality and
discretion. Ability to interpret and apply a wide range of academic and administrative policies and procedures to provide excellent customer
service. Excellent communication skills, sufficient to explain policies, procedures, and practices and to sustain excellent customer
interactions in person by phone and email. Ability to multi-task. Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with internal and
external constituents. Strong data management skills. Able to review and audit relevant data. Knowledge of current technology/communication
strategies to communicate with students.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university and
at least 7 years of Financial Aid experience in Higher Education. Ability to work productively in highly collaborative environments that
maximize autonomy and decision-making. Ability to interact effectively with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students,
faculty, and staff. Ability to be flexible and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines. Strong communication and customer service
skills to adequately serve students and the university community.
