Mental Health Therapist Job Summary:
Under the leadership of a clinical director, this position serves as a therapist for the Behavioral Health program at Children & Families of Iowa. This work involves meeting with clients daily in person and virtually. We are hiring Master’s level graduate students who are either licensed for the state Iowa or in the process of becoming licensed.
Mental Health Therapist Sample Job Duties:
· Provide professional therapy and/or counseling to clients in the mental health program,
· Perform all necessary record keeping and reporting functions as required to adhere to agency and external requirements. Includes, but is not limited to the following: Develop and maintain goal oriented treatment plans; correspondence with other agencies, programs, clients and collateral contacts; therapy notation and therapy discharge summaries to identify and address treatment plans and effective quality care. Coordinate clinical aspects of assigned program areas to ensure efficient facilitation.
· Determine the need for and coordinate community resources to aid the family in therapy goal attainment.
· Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings as a therapist team member to discuss new therapy/counseling practices and problem areas to identify and address new and/or different routes to the delivery of quality care.

Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or closely related human services field; with appropriate experience and licensure for the state of Iowa, in family counseling, or closely related counseling field that ensures adequate understanding of human dynamics at a professional level.
