Position Summary

The Sr Human Resource Generalist serves as an objective escalation point and subject matter expert to provide consultation and partnership with employees and leaders to resolve workforce issues in an equitable, fair and unbiased manner. These issues include but are not limited to employee complaints or grievances and work performance issues. The Sr Human Resource Generalist investigates and recommends solutions to front line leaders and coaches leaders on performance management, labor relations and other human resources matters. The Sr Human Resource Generalist ensures compliance with labor contracts, past practice, organizational policies, procedures and all applicable laws. Incumbents will analyze key metrics trends and use data to make informed recommendations and decisions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience.

Experience:

• Eight years of professional human resources generalist/employee relations experience, including two years in a union environment.
• Current human resources certification, such as PHR, SPHR or similar, preferred.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Displays strong working knowledge of organization policies, procedures, guidelines and philosophies.
• Demonstrates knowledge of local, state and federal labor and workplace laws.
• Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully resolve grievances and respond to regulatory agencies.
• Excellent customer service focus with the ability to maintain confidential information.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Exhibits solid collaboration and decision-making skills.
• Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations with both employees and leaders.
