Are you looking to join a small and mighty team of Human Resource professionals spearheading the development of our internal talent? Are you driven by excellence and collaboration? We are seeking a Director, HR and Talent Development (Human Resource Business Partner) for Chinook Therapeutics. This role reports directly to the head of Human Resources.
Responsibilities:
Establish Company-wide strategic plans and objectives for Talent Development, ensuring interconnectedness with Total Rewards and Recruitment; make final decisions on implementation; effectively cascade functional strategy and contributes to development of organizational policies related to Talent Development; manage budgets for all HR company wide training and development opportunities
Partners and acts as an advisor to business leaders in a defined client group to provide HR solutions and programs to meet business objectives
Coach, manage, mentor, and advise leaders and staff on various people related items, including:
diversity, equity and inclusion including attracting, selecting, developing & retaining diverse employees
employee performance & development including goal-setting, providing feedback and job ladders/career development
employee relations issues including proactively investigating and addressing conflicts, complaints and emerging issues
change management, communication and team-building
HR programs, policies, processes and systems
Manages the termination and offboarding processes, analyzing separation data for trends and addressing identified issues
Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs and people (such as Succession Planning, High Potential work, talent management/review, etc.)
Develops deep understanding of the business to assess and implement relevant, right-sized and impactful Talent Development programs and solutions; works closely with other HRBPs to support the specific Talent Development needs of various client groups
Continually assesses the competitiveness and effectiveness of all Talent Development programs and practices against the relevant comparable companies and markets
Mentors, trains and develops other HR team members; may manage direct or indirect reports over time
Contributes to the development and maintenance of a positive team-focused company culture
Other related duties to deliver HR programs and services to support a dynamic biotech business
Education, Experience, and Skills:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, I/O, Human Resources or other related discipline, or equivalent relevant hands-on experience required
10+ years related and progressive experience; biotech industry related experience strongly preferred
PHR/SHRM-CP certification preferred; certifications in Learning and Development programs preferred
Ability to build relationships and effectively partner at all levels
Ability to create and review Talent Development strategies and maintain relevant metrics and statistics
Proven HR experience (client-facing generalist or HRBP experience) with general knowledge of employment laws and working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines, including compensation practices, employee relations, talent management, diversity and inclusion and performance management
Strong business sense: consulting, project management, communication, presentation, negotiation, conflict management and analytical skills
Bias to action, being familiar with methods and approaches needed to get things done in a collaborative, lean and fast-moving environment, responding effectively and simply to complex and ambiguous problems and situations
Highly organized with track record of operational excellence, targeting process management requirements and priorities
Gains clients’ trust by effectively addressing their concerns to further long-term interests.
Sound written and verbal communicator, able to succinctly guide client group with clear expectations
