Primary Purpose
Directs the transportation division’s employees (drivers and helpers) in achieving the policy and goals of the organization; routes, dispatches and tracks drivers and vehicles. Manages the fleet of vehicles to ensure compliance with DOT regulations. Conducts training using SMITH system of driving philosophy; conducts check-rides on an “as needed” basis to ensure driver compliance to organizational rules. Maintains a record of driving performance to document, train and mentor drivers. Ensures workforce delivers, picks-up on time, and minimizes the use of overtime. The Transportation Manager will emphasize safety to minimize accidents and damage to company property.
POSITION SCOPE
Manage work activities with internal and external partners to assure the achievement of assigned objectives. Develop work plans and schedules. (KB- Interfaces on a regular basis with multiple vendors Rental companies, equipment repair, fuel, fleet and equipment) (DB- Quality of service metrics: responsible for input, monitoring, evaluation & reporting of transportation metrics)
Position Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Experience: Minimum two to four years relative work experience along with supervisory experience.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Regularly required to speak clearly and hear the spoken word well.
Regularly required to physically operate routine equipment (computers, calculators, etc.).
Regularly required to utilize near vision ability to read data and documents, including spreadsheets and reports, in printed form and on computer screens.
Regularly required to return to work in emergency situations on an on-call basis.
Regularly required to move fingers, wrist, arms, legs and feet in a repetitive manner as necessary to operate tools and equipment.
Required to lift weight or exert force every 5 to 10 minutes.
