This is a part-time, 20-hour-per-week position provides direct public service to GRPL patrons, helping to provide access to library resources.
Examples of Work:
Provides assistance to the public in-person, over the phone, and via email. The assistance includes checking materials in and out, answering patron questions, issuing library cards, assisting with account issues, assisting with library-related technology such as public workstations and printing, and otherwise helping patrons access library resources.
Assists with the maintenance of GRPL’s collection; assists with materials handling; monitors the condition of materials being returned to the library; communicates and reports on issues related to library materials and related circulation processes.
Resolves issues with patron accounts; may involve financial transactions and cash handling.
Data entry.
Communicates with the staff of other libraries around circulation and loan functions.
Performs other tasks of a similar nature as assigned.

We currently have the following positions available:
West Leonard Branch
Monday + Tuesday: 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday: 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Occasionally required:
Sunday: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
This position will be regularly scheduled at the listed branch. However, this position will also be required to periodically work shifts at other branches as needed.
Minimum Training and Experience
High school diploma or a GED is required; a college degree is preferred.
Two years of customer service experience, library experience, cash handling experience, office experience, or some equivalent combination is preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish is preferred.
Other Necessary Qualifications
Ability to provide professional, friendly service to library patrons.
Proficiency in the use of typical office equipment; including computers, cash register, copy machines, etc.
Ability to make independent, reliable decisions related to customer service functions; ability to work without close supervision.
Ability to work with a diverse population within the library environment.
Ability to accurately and efficiently process details related to data entry and patron accounts, financial transactions, and library circulation functions on a consistent basis.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time in the performance of the duties associated with this position; ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance is also required; visual acuity sufficient to read spine labels; ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer is essential to this position.
