This position is responsible for the coordination of the city’s training and career development program and assists the Human Resources Director with a variety of human resources activities.
Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures and federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Human Resources Director assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES: Guidelines include department standard operating procedures, local personnel policy ordinances, and federal and state regulations. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY: The work consists of varied administrative duties. The diversity of training requirements contributes to the complexity of the work.
SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this position is to coordinate the city’s training and development, and total quality management process. Successful performance facilitates the training of a productive and service-oriented workforce.
PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typically with co-workers, other city employees, elected officials, representative of professional organizations, and the general public.
PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, provide services, train personnel, and negotiate or settle matters.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
