Description Of Duties / Essential Functions
To provide integrated municipal waste management services designed to support environmental sustainability and economic development in all communities throughout Houston. The Senior Dispatcher is responsible for recording information for approximately 48 crews in the field pertaining to route activities, breakdowns, complaints through communication of a two – radio. Uses computer to research, store, and retrieve pertinent information from various sources such as Rubicon, CRIS, and HTX Collects. Maintains log sheets in Excel from crews’ daily activities. Disseminates information by phone, radio telephone, and email to appropriate field staff / supervisor, and also assists in pulling and closing customer service requests. May perform special assignments as directed.
Job duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is physically comfortable most of the time with occasional periods of stooping, bending and/or light lifting of materials of up to 10 pounds. There are occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less-than-optimal temperature and air conditions. The position may involve dealing with modestly unpleasant situations, as with occasional exposure to office chemicals and / or extensive use of a monitor. Requires the ability to make coordinated gross motor movements in response to changing external stimuli within moderate demanding tolerances; or the ability to make coordinated eye / hand movements on a patterned response space within low tolerance demands with no real speed requirements.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a High School Diploma or a GED.
Experience Requirements
One year of experience as a Dispatcher or work in a Clerical / Telephone or Radio / Telephone operation is required.
