Position is responsible for functioning as the department’s liaison to state and local government officials, as well as internal and external stakeholders, in an effort to build relationships in support of departmental and city initiatives; and, to identify solutions in resolving stakeholder concerns.
Position Responsibilities
Develop and maintain relationships with City-County Councilors and other local and state officials to educate them of and promote DPW related programs, services and initiatives.
Attend Council, DPW Board, community and neighborhood group meetings as needed to promote and educate stakeholders of DPW programs, services and initiatives; and, to evaluate and identify solutions to stakeholder concerns.
Support and work in partnership with DPW Director, management team, neighborhood leaders, local and state representatives to evaluate and identify solutions to DPW related infrastructure concerns.
Assist where necessary in the development, review and update of policy and strategic plans designed to provide improved service to city residents and stakeholders.
Track, prepare and provide reports, briefings, presentations and correspondence to DPW Director, local and state government representatives and other stakeholders as necessary.
Brief and educate Councilors of, and secure Councilor sponsorship for; relevant proposals, resolutions and fiscal ordinances.
Keep DPW Director and DPW management team abreast of relevant Council related events, issues and concerns.
Develop and work with management team to implement short term action plans to address and resolve Councilor and constituent requests.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree OR four (4) years of related work experience, which includes two (2) years of public information/media experience. Any combination of education and/or related work experience totaling eight (8) years is acceptable. Must have proficient knowledge with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to maintain professional demeanor in stressful situations and resolve problems for each event. Can easily multitask, prioritize, and work independently as well as within a team with a variety of personalities. Able to easily change priorities and direction as the need arises. Creatively solve problems with a critical eye for detail. Excellent writing skills and verbal communication skills are required.
