Juvenile Detention Officers

We have Full-Time and On-Call positions available. On-calls are scheduled to cover staff training, leaves and other operation needs as necessary. Our JDO’s are responsible for transporting and interacting with juveniles in a confined and secure detention facility.
Primary work functions include performing duties related to juvenile daily care within the housing units, facilitating groups, operating Central Control, conducting juvenile assessment, intake and release activities and transporting residents outside the facility.
Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent supplemented by college course work in criminal justice, human development, or related behavioral science field including at least 6 months – 2 years experience working with juveniles in a social service, detention or corrections program; or equivalent.
Must have access to telephone or voice pager to be reached at any time, and have access to reliable 24hr/day transportation. Must be at least 21 years of age and U. S. Citizen. As per Juvenile Detention Standards, must be free of convictions of crimes punishable by imprisonment in a state or federal penitentiary for a term of one year or more from which a pardon has not been received, cannot be registered as a child or adult abuse or sexual offender with the National Child Abuse and Neglect Registry. Must be fingerprinted for a national and state criminal history checks. Criminal history and Central Registry for Adult and Child Abuse checks will be made on top candidates. At time of employment, candidate must submit to and successfully pass a substance abuse test and physical examination. THIS POSITION IS SUBJECT TO MANDATORY DRUG TESTING POLICIES AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.
Necessary Special Requirement: Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Employees must work a least 30 hours per week to be eligible for insurance benefits.Vacation leave, sick leave, and holidays are prorated for part time employees based upon the hours worked per week.Temporary, seasonal, and on-call employees are not eligible for benefits.
