The City of Louisville invites highly dedicated and creative Planning professionals to apply for our Planner III (Senior Planner) position within the Planning Division of the Community Development Department. Take a leadership role in the City’s urban planning processes to help ensure Louisville maintains its unique character and guides new development to meet community goals. The Senior Planner will manage complex development and permitting projects, and will contribute to long-range planning efforts.
We are seeking a Senior Planner with a minimum of 4 years planning experience, including some experience with a municipality, and experience applying ordinances and design standards to new development and infill development.
Assignments are carried out in accordance with general work instructions and professional knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices that are applicable to community development, urban planning and design, transportation planning and zoning. Performs other work as requested.
Hiring Range: $75,150 – $88,317
Salary Range: $75,150 to $101,462

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands, fingers, handle objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arm. The employee occasional may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The majority of the work is performed indoors, although the employee is required to make field visits for purposes of researching, analyzing, gathering, verifying or complying data and information. Open concept floor plan. Noise level can range from very low to a moderate level.
OTHER NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates may be required to complete and pass a pre-placement physical, substance screen, and a background investigation prior to employment.
