City of Memphis Hiring for Library Department Clerk (Appointed) at Memphis, TN Full Time

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the Sr. Agency Manager to perform clerical functions and paging activities. Maintains the organization and accurate arrangement of materials in the Agency by shelving, retrieving, shifting, weeding, filing and discarding according to Agency policies. Provides assistance to the reference staff as required. Directs library customers to correct locations or staff in the Agency. Assists others in the Agency with activities necessary to support Agency services and procedures as well as the mission and goal of the Library system.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment including telephone, computer and calculator.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in temperature controlled public building or on mobile units and works outside for short periods to empty bookdrops in all weather conditions. Position requires repetitive motions, stooping, bending, stretching, pushing and lifting up to 75 lbs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED certificate required. Work experience with similar activities preferred.

Special skills required include: ability to arrange items in alphabetical and numerical order; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks accurately; ability to work as member of team providing excellent customer service; ability to operate personal computers and basic office equipment.
