PAYGRADE: 1
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: Under direction of the Department Head or Foreman, performs routine and repetitive manual labor; and does related work as required. Occasionally laborers are required to operate equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Shovels blacktop and tamps it.
Sweeps and cleans gutters manually.
Loads and unloads trucks of dirt, construction materials and merchandise.
Digs ditches, cuts weeds, mows grass, erects road signs, guard rails and similar construction.
Assists in street construction and maintenance.
Shovels snow.
Picks up rubbish and dumps it into a truck or similar vehicle.
Performs other duties as required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: – Ability to understand and follow oral instructions. Some knowledge and appreciation of preventive maintenance. Physical stamina to sustain hard work for extended periods of time under adverse weather conditions. Courtesy. Tact. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, and the general public. Dependability. Special Necessary Requirements
Possession of or ability to acquire valid operator”s license issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
