This position is responsible for assisting accounting and finance staff with reporting and administrative functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Procurement functions.
Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance.
Compiles data, provides reports and prepares supporting documents.
Assists with monitoring of procurements and procurement card purchases for compliance with policies and procedures.
Assist with administrative functions relating to finance, risk management, loss prevention, and human resources.
Assists with administrative and clerical tasks as they relate to duties and processes within the Finance and Human Resources Departments.
Performs related duties.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Knowledge of City accounting policies and procedures.
Knowledge of City purchasing policies and procedures.
Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
Skill in problem solving.

Skill in oral and written communication.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Director of Finance assigns work in terms of general instructions. This position will report to the Accounting Manager or Human Resources Manager who will verify completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include Internal Revenue Service regulations and guidelines, Social Security guidelines, workers’ compensation guidelines, and city and department policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of varied accounting duties. Strict regulations and the need for accuracy contribute to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to provide specialized support for financial and personnel operations. Successful performance ensures the efficiency and effectiveness of those operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Ability to be bonded.
