This applicant pool will be used to fill any current vacancies and per City rule, may also be used for six (6) months to fill Maintenance Worker I vacancies throughout the department. You must apply to this job posting to be considered for any future vacancies in any of the following divisions: Stormwater Quality, Stormwater Operations, Pavement Maintenance, and Traffic Operations.
Salary: $15.45 – $20.34 Hourly

To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
Have at least six (6) months of progressive experience in one of the following:
Construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, and curbs.
Grounds maintenance or landscaping.
Maintenance and repair of power tools and small equipment.
Be able to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time, sometimes under unfavorable weather conditions.
Be able to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, an applicant must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.
Desirable Qualifications: Preferred applicants:
Have basic computer skills.
Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
Possess two years of progressive experience in one of the following:
Construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, and curbs.
Grounds maintenance or landscaping.
Maintenance and repair of power tools and small equipment.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
The successful candidate must be either a resident of the City of St. Petersburg as of his or her date of employment, or establish primary residency within the city limits of St. Petersburg within six months of completing the probationary period. Furthermore, as long as the successful candidate is employed in this classification, he or she must reside within the city limits of St. Petersburg. This requirement is not applicable to current City employees who were hired before October 20, 1997.
