City of St Petersburg Hiring for Maintenance Worker II (Cosme) at Odessa, FL Full Time

This is semi-skilled manual work at the Cosme Water Plant in Northwest Hillsborough County and pumping stations located in St. Petersburg, requiring the application of skills and knowledge above the basic laboring level. Work is characterized by advanced manual tasks to include mowing, painting, waxing floors, maintaining buildings, operation of trucks and trailers, and the use of specialized equipment such as hand and power tools, pressure washers, pumps, jetting machine, and generators. An employee in this class may also act as lead worker for intermittent periods.

Salary: $15.20 – $20.78 Hourly

To Qualify

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

• Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
• Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class “B” Commercial Driver License (CDL) – or – must possess the temporary permit at the time of appointment to the position and obtain and continue to maintain the actual Class “B” CDL within five and one half (5-1/2) months of appointment.
• Have eighteen months of experience as a skilled worker in one or more of the trades involved.
• Be able to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
• Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.

Desirable Qualifications: Preferred applicants:

• Have some computer knowledge.
• Are able to perform light repairs and maintenance of equipment.
