$4,895.70 – $5,146.42 – $5,410.34 – $5,687.46 – $5,978.94 – $6,286.08

The Community Development Department is seeking to fill an Executive Assistant position. This position is responsible for the day-to-day administration of personnel activities and regulations of the Community Development Department.
The Executive Assistant plays a vital role in the smooth and effective running of daily operations in the Department, providing direct support to the management staff as well as support to the Department as needed. The ideal candidate will possess the mission and vision to serve the Department and City, and actively seek out opportunities to anticipate and respond to the needs of the Director and Department as a whole. The ideal candidate should possess superior problem-solving skills, be technology savvy, and be comfortable in providing a wide variety of tasks with effective time management skills. Duties may include exposure/access to confidential information. Ability to utilize discretion is a must. The Executive Assistant should be able to balance multiple competing tasks and projects simultaneously.
The Executive Assistant will work a City of Stockton 9/80 schedule: 7:30am to 5:30pm Monday through Thursday; 8:00am to 5:00pm Friday, with alternating Fridays off. Must be able to attend occasional evening meetings to support the director and staff.
This is an At-Will (Unclassified/Represented) position. Incumbents in this position are excluded from the Civil Service system and are in a “for-cause” employment status represented by the Mid-Management/Supervisory bargaining unit.
Prior to appointment, eligible candidates will be required to submit to and successfully pass a background investigation, which will include fingerprinting.
Under direction, provides varied complex and often confidential secretarial and office administrative assistance to a department head or City Officer and associated supervisory and professional staff; may provide lead direction to a clerical support staff; performs related work as assigned.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This class is distinguished from other City secretarial classes in that the nature, diversity, and scope of responsibilities originating from this level of management support requires the frequent use of tact, discretion, initiative, and independent judgment. Responsibilities include attendance at meetings and regular contact with government officials, City Council or board or commission members; representatives of business or community organizations, the public, and all levels of City personnel to exchange information and explain administrative policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience/Education:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and four years of secretarial or office administration experience. Business or secretarial school training experience in dealing with governmental, community and business representatives is desirable.
Other Requirements:
Typing at a rate of 55 net words per minute from printed copy.
