COCC is looking for an Employee Relations Specialist to join our HR Total Rewards (TR) team. The Employee Relations Specialist will ensure a fair and equitable work environment by providing expertise, coaching and advice in the areas of employee relations, performance management and interpretation of COCC’s policies and procedures.
As part of our TR team, this role acts as an ambassador for COCC’s collaborative and values-driven culture. The ideal candidate will be approachable, flexible and demonstrate grace under pressure while working through sensitive and confidential employee relations issues.

What you’ll do…
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with our employees and management team
Coach managers on employee relations matters including policy interpretation, HR procedures, employee conflicts, and performance management
Investigate and document employee complaints
Develop and deliver employee write-ups, including performance action plans and incident reports
Conduct employee exit interviews and prepare separation packages
Develop and prepare written materials and communications, including our employee handbook, policies and procedures, employee communication, job descriptions, etc.
Provide support for our Return to Office (RTO) efforts, including COVID-19 vaccination testing research and related procedures and office space planning
Maintain current knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations and advise employees in accordance with legal parameters and company policies
Maintain current knowledge of regulatory and compliance developments related to employee relations
What you’ll bring…

Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience
3-5 years HR generalist experience with a focus on employee relations
Working knowledge of human resource management principles, best practices and applicable legal and governmental compliance regulations
Excellent relationship-building skills, and ability to respond in a positive, solutions-focused manner
Experience with principles and practices of investigation and research, including principles and procedures of record keeping and reporting, research techniques and data collection
Experience conducting complex employee investigations and witness interviews
Strong understanding of policies, procedures, and legislation related to employment practices
Aptitude for problem solving and analyzing processes
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a demanding work environment
Ability to maintain the utmost sensitivity and confidentiality as it relates to HR records
Self-starter with ability to interact with various levels of staff and management and within teams
Solid analytical skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Excel; strong attention to detail
