Position Summary:  Manages and oversees the accounting and financial reporting requirements for the facility.  Responsible for managing and accounting functions including (but not limited to) financial close, accounts payable, cash receipts, non-healthcare and healthcare related accounts receivable, revenue and treasury.  Actively designs and participates in the organization’s accounting practices and its relationships with outside financial institutions and interested parties.  Participates in the department’s performance improvement and continuous quality (CQI) improvement activities.

Minimum Qualification:

• BS/BA degree in finance, accounting, business or a related discipline highly desired
• Five or more years of accounts payable and/or payroll accounting preferred.
• Experience in a healthcare setting highly desired

Position Responsibilities:

• Supports the mission of the facility
• Assures compliance with federal, state and local government laws and regulations, accrediting agency standards and hospital policies and procedures rules and regulations
• Prepare financial reports
• Prepare financial feasibility analysis for capital projects, investments, acquisitions and divestitures
• Maintains cost accounting system by service line
• Maintains general ledger, is responsible for monthly closing activities and ensure audit adjustments are minimized
• Maintains and utilized specialized knowledge of accounting principles and practices
• Prepares annual budgets according to annually established calendar
• Reviews and provides logical explanations for monthly, quarterly, and annual variances in general ledger accounts and hospital statistics
• Acts as liaison with external stakeholders in providing required financial reports and information
• Works aligned with Revenue Cycle and Billing department to ensure routine financial reconciliations and analysis are supported
• Responds to all reasonable requests in an appropriate and timely manner and communicates in a concise and positive manner. 
• Presents constructive feedback regarding system or process failures and participates in resolution with work partners in a proactive and positive manner

• Completes annual education requirements.

• Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion.
• Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.
• Attends all staff meetings, reads and returns all monthly staff meeting minutes.
• Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
• Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
• Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
• Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.
• Adjust work hours/schedule as needed to meet the needs and demands of the department and hospital.
• Aware of all Emergency Disaster Plans and how to respond if a Disaster occurs.
• Works effectively with others, demonstrates leadership and teaching ability and the ability to work under pressure.
• Appreciation of and desire to be part of a health care team dedicated to providing patients optimal care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficient in the use of standard office equipment and automated A/P procedures preferred
• General bookkeeping skills preferred
• Basic Microsoft office computer skills including Excel required
• Basic clerical office practices and procedures required.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
