About This Role: We currently have four high schools in New Orleans and one high school in Baton Rouge, and we are hiring Social Studies teachers in both cities for the 2022-23 school year. Teachers must be deeply committed to creating a classroom culture where 100% of your students are engaged in rigorous lessons aligned to the college ready bar.
Our Approach to Social Studies: Our social studies classes are grounded in reading, writing and talking about primary sources, with our social studies curricula written by CA teachers to meet state standards and to allow for culturally responsive instruction of our students. It is constantly revised to better meet our students’ needs.
At CA, we offer the following social studies courses: World Geography, World History, U.S. History, A. P. U. S. History, and Seminar in Social Justice (SSJ). SSJ is our interdisciplinary and project-based approach to Civics in which students work in teams to research issues in their communities and propose solutions to those issues to leaders in the community. As part of their coursework, students also complete an independent research project.
