To prepare cadets for today’s colleges and tomorrow’s careers by engaging cadets in a rigorous and high-tech curriculum in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) while building strong moral character through an environment of military leadership development.
General Description:
Teaches knowledge and skills in physics and physical science for middle and or high school students.
Promotes critical and creative thinking and analysis in all related subject areas.
Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
Create hands-on, inquiry-based, project-based lessons that build excitement for science.
Demonstrate scientific concepts using models, technology, and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for subject area, and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
Instructs students in the proper use and care of scientific equipment.
Follows IEP accommodations and communicates with SpEd teachers as needed.
Posts grade and comment in PowerShool in a timely manner.
Encourages parental involvement in students’ education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school’s standards, establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Attends professional development and other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
Preference given to applicants with State Certification as a Science Teacher
Passing score on PLACE or Praxis in Secondary Science
Bachelor’s degree in related field; master’s degree preferred
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
