Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Academic Affairs, the Human Resources (HR) Coordinator will support a variety of HR duties. The HR Coordinator with have primary administrative responsibility for provider credentialing, faculty onboarding, will be responsible for coordinating the Short-Term Visitor process for the Department in the Department of Surgery.
Responsibilities
Serve as the point of contact for new providers (MD, NP, PA) for hospital privileging and credentialing process.
Provides individualized licensure and credentialing instructions, in addition to support and problem-solving throughout process.
Works in conjunction with provider and NYP Medical Staff Office (MSO) to complete credentialing and re-credentialing applications.
Act as liaison with MSO for all Surgery related issues, including Joint Commission audits.
Prepares Chairman’s support letters, board waiver memos and DEA waiver memos.
Reviews delineation of privileges for accurate selections and appropriate MCIC categories for AD and Chair’s approval.
Tracks license and certification expirations for all providers to ensure timely renewals.
Monitors semi-annual OPPE submissions for CU NPs and PAs.
Maintains knowledge of licensure, credentialing and hospital requirements.
Facilitate the processing of the visitors and observers process for the Department of Surgery. This includes full cycle onboarding.
Serve as a central point of contact for faculty and staff for all visitor and observer related questions.
Prepare appointment and stipend documents for Visiting Student Interns.
Prepare appointment and stipend/payroll documents for Postdoctoral Research Fellows and Scientist.
Coordinate and monitors annual credentialing compliance – Health Review, Flu Shot, Hospital & Fire Safety, Conflict of interest, HIPAA, Billing Compliance, Title IX, etc.
Responsible for effectively communicating statuses, process and policy updates with providers and administrators, anticipating problems and suggesting potential solutions to ensure compliance.
Assist the AD with University hiring and onboarding process for faculty.
Prepare university hiring documents and payroll forms for new faculty.
Acts as liaison with Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) for zero-salaried faculty affiliates at Overlook, Bassett, Stamford, Harlem Hospital and other affiliate sites.
Submits affiliate faculty appointments in TBH.
Assists the AD with the preparation and submission of the annual reappointment roster for affiliate faculty.
Completes verifications of appointment.
Draft memos and letters to faculty and staff as directed.
Perform routine data entry.
Maintain faculty and staff database (GRM) and generate reports as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience.
Minimum related experience:
3 years
Preferred Qualifications
SHRM and/or CSPS preferred by not required

Qualifications for Candidates include but are not limited to the following:
Knowledge and understanding of the credentialing process.
Ability to organize and prioritize work and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including, letters, memos and emails.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to research and analyze data.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management, staff, and contacts outside the organization.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access) and internet resources.
Must be able to communicate clearly to providers and team members in person and over the telephone.
