The Department of Health is looking for a highly motivated individual with an attention for detail. We have an opening for a Clerk Typist 2 within the Bureau of Health Statistics and Registries, Division of Vital Records. If you have clerical experience, this may be the position for you.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform intake duties related to applications for death and fetal death certificates, including assessing eligibility, reviewing photo identification, verifying fees or eligibility for fee waivers, and typing information from applications into the vital statistics system.
You will also process and analyze applications for death and fetal death certificates, including searching for the death or fetal death record in the vital statistics system, assessing the reason for the request, reviewing the requested record for status holds or registration issues, referring applications that cannot be processed to the appropriate queue, and validating acceptable orders for issuance and completion.
Other duties include; print select death and fetal death certificates on the correct security paper, as required, and maintain an accurate accounting of assigned security paper and assemble data about the type and amount of work performed by completing a daily production report.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Limited Term Full-time employment.
Our limited term assignments are six months with the potential to be extended for a year.
Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title); or
Graduation from high school; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
