About the Position:
As an Accountant for CAPSLO you will manage a budget that makes a difference in people’s lives and the community! Your primary responsibility is to provide accounting and budgetary support to a wide variety of programs across the agency. Included in these duties are timely and accurate reporting, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, preparing adjustments, analyzing financial statements and budgeting. You will supports CAPSLO’s mission by ensuring your assigned programs are budgeted, accounted and reconciled effectively so in turn the programs can serve as many families and individuals in the community as possible.

Accountant I:
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field or Bachelor’s Degree plus equivalent experience in accounting.
Minimum of one-year experience in the field of accounting.
Overall experience in accounts payable, receivables, financial statement analysis, and bank reconciliations.
Accountant II:
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field or Bachelor’s Degree plus equivalent experience in accounting.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
As an Accountant I or II:
You will have overall responsibility for coordinating meetings with Program Directors and CFO to provide timely reporting on a monthly basis.
You will prepares monthly recurring journal entries as per journal entry checklist.
You will performs account analysis on all balance sheet and revenue and expense accounts as require and investigate and explains variances.
You will prepare timely adjustments to the financial statements when needed.
You will report to the funding source with all required financial information by the deadlines as noted in the funding terms of the agreement.
You will prepare annual departmental budgets and/or individual grant budgets in conjunction with the Program Director.
You will prepare and present monthly and annual fiscal summary for assigned contracts to the Finance Committee for review.
You will prepare and update agency wide grant/contract listing and report due date schedule as needed.
You will oversee the maintenance of contract files and abstracts on each grant.
You will prepare timely billing for reimbursement of expenditures.
You will prepare financial reports for a diverse array of programs as required by various funding sources and regulatory agencies.
You will oversee the safeguarding of company assets and make sure that accounting is in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (G.A.A.P.) and other applicable funding terms and conditions.
You will reconcile capital purchases, maintain the Fixed Asset ledger and calculate quarterly depreciation entries.
You will reconcile the general ledger cash accounts to the bank statement in a timely manner.
As an Accountant II you will not only have a larger workload, including multiple contracts and projects but you will also be expected to provide more detailed fiscal analysis, forecasting, mentoring of less experienced staff and provide fiscal trainings for program staff as needed.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age by date of hire.
Must comply with the CAPSLO COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, either being fully vaccinated/boosted or have an approved exemption.
Based on program, a current TB skin test/Chest X-Ray may be required.
Employment is contingent upon meeting all applicable job requirements and background requirements. A criminal history clearance is required prior to employment.
Upon hire, agency staff will check the Megan’s Law (or the current sexual predator website) to ensure each staff being hired is clear for employment. Agency staff will check the website annually to ensure all program staff are cleared to work.
