GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Plan, organize, implement, and deliver standardized instructional curriculum to offenders under the supervision of Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Participate in program planning activities, conduct research in specialty areas, prepare reports, and make program recommendations. Provide technical assistance and expert advice in program areas to related advisory councils, commissions, and agencies. Participate as a case management team member and as a lead in coordinating, improving, promoting, and developing required resources.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work under the general direction of a division lieutenant or assigned management personnel.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervision is not a responsibility of this classification; however, incumbents may exercise lead responsibility for one or more employees engaged in closely related duties.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of adult learning principles, objectives, practices, and theories specific to adult offenders in a criminal justice environment; resources available necessary to plan, develop and administer programs in specialty areas; evidence-based processes and criminogenic needs and motivation to change; methodologies of program assessment and evaluation.
Skill in the use of the English language, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Ability to apply knowledge to develop, implement and evaluate programs. Organize, plan, coordinate and administer standardized programs to adult offenders in the criminal justice environment. Compile data from various sources, analyze data, prepare evaluative reports and integrated plans. Develop and maintain productive liaisons and contact with citizen boards, commissions, public and private agencies, department programs, and county departments. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Effectively analyze data and results of evaluative research. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and the public.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sees close and distant objects within normal parameters; uses olfactory senses; hears a normal level of speech; speaks clearly; sits in a normal seated position for extended periods of time; walks; bends; stoops; crawls; kneels; writes legibly; uses hands to grasp, handle and manipulate objects; implements finger dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hand(s) or arm(s) for extended periods of time (for example: using a keyboard); ability to operate a motor vehicle
Marion County offers a generous benefits package to regular employees working 50% or more of the regularly scheduled work week and their eligible dependents. Temporary employees and part-time regular employees working less than 50% of the regularly scheduled work week are not eligible for benefits.
