General Summary: The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides support services to adult members under the supervision of the Program Director. The BHT will serve as a member advocate, providing information and peer support for members in outpatient settings. The BHT performs a wide range of tasks to assist members in regaining independence within the community and mastery over their own recovery process recovery resources such as books, tapes, pamphlets, and other written materials will be utilized by BHT in the provision of services.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reports to assigned location as scheduled; follows agency attendance policies; submits accurate record of hours worked on a weekly basis.
• Utilizes a strengths-based approach along with personal experiences while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries to develop meaningful and trusting relationships with members.
• Provides members an example of what they can strive for in their recovery and instills the belief that recovery is real and possible.
• Must be able to understand and implement individual treatment plan goals by providing behavioral health covered support services to members
• Works with various community organizations and resources to provide additional support for members, particularly as they transition from recovery back into the general community. This can include continued healthcare, housing, job assistance, and additional treatment services as well as support in the task of finding or re-integrating with friends, family, and outside communities.
• Conducts individual and group services.
• Adheres to all licensing requirements for the site/program/agency.
• Transports members to locations in the community as needed for service delivery, using a motor vehicle.
• Maintains required vehicle documentation; maintains cleanliness and maintenance protocols for agency vehicles.
• Closely observes members, to ensure their safety, and appropriate participation in program activities.
• Completes progress notes, incident reports and other data sheets within the required timeframe.
• Works with members of the treatment team and other programs ensuring service provision to members.
• Participates in supervision as required.
• Participates in clinical rounds or care management process as required.
• Adheres to agency policy on the provision of services and administrative role.
• Attends CFT’s and ART’s when required; attends regularly scheduled Team Meetings, and other meetings as required.
• Follows agency purchasing and accounting procedures.
• Completes all training required by licensing and/or agency, or as requested by supervisor.
• Renders emergency aid, safeguards members’ rights, including reporting of abuse when required.
• Performs other duties as assigned or necessary as they relate to the general nature of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education – HS/GED required. Associate or Bachelor degree in a field related to behavioral health field preferred; or equivalent experience and education to meet BHT credentialing.
• Experience – minimum of four years of experience working in the behavioral health field if applying with HS/GED education or three years of experience and 18 credit hours of college education in field related to behavioral health field. Two years of experience required for candidates with an associate degree. One year of experience for candidates with a Bachelor degree (not related to behavioral health).
• Certification – meets standards for BHT credentialing or has Peer Support Certification from Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) or another approved provider.

Regulatory

• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required.
• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card (must possess upon hire and maintain throughout employment).
• CPR, First Aid & AED certification, if required (must possess upon hire and maintain throughout employment).
• Valid Arizona Driver’s License, 39-month Motor Vehicle Report, proof of vehicle registration and liability insurance that meet company insurance requirements, if required.
• Negative TB test result, if required (Employer provides).
