Compassion & Choices and the Compassion & Choices Action Network seeks a culturally intelligent leader to serve as our chief marketing officer. Working closely with the President & CEO, other chief executives and department directors, the CMO translates and articulates the President & CEO’s vision; serves Compassion & Choices programs/campaigns with marketing, communications and digital resources that achieve their goals; develops systems and processes to ensure teams across the organizations work is effectively supported; markets the program/campaigns and the organization to generate visibility and funding; leverages data to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and digital efforts and adjusts strategies; anticipates market changes; serves as on organizational ambassador, and provides mentoring, guidance, supervision, conflict resolution, and professional development to staff.
The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is responsible for strategy, systems, and management of a division of over 25 staff in
Additionally, the CMO works with the CEO, Chief Advocacy & Outreach Officer, and the Political Engagement Director to build and maintain a coordinated marketing strategy for the newly expanded and independent Compassion & Choices Action Network (an affiliated IRS determined 501(c)(4) organization and its political action committees) and supports its ability to access contracted marketing and communication services and/or through its interactions with Compassion & Choices marketing functions.

This is a full-time, remotely-located, paid position reporting to the President/CEO. Compensation offered will be commensurate with experience.

This position is primarily responsible for serving as a:
Marketer: Creates innovative culturally relevant marketing strategies (both online and offline), that will increase the profile of the CEO and organization, build our brand, increase awareness, generate revenue including annual digital revenue targets, and increase relevance and respect among key audiences. Strong background on digital and online strategies essential.
Strategic Partner: Partners with other chiefs and their teams to develop and implement marketing and communications strategies to advance the goals of our programs, which includes communications strategy development and support for: legislative efforts to advance a federal policy agenda as well as medical aid in dying at the state level; litigation to advance and defend the full range of end of life choice; policy materials to address inequities in end-of-life care, dementia and medical aid in dying; culturally attuned public education materials designed to inform and inspire diverse communities to become empowered end of life consumers; and outreach and education materials to inspire physicians to deliver patient-directed care. This includes a strong understanding of C4 advocacy campaigns and enough knowledge of PAC electoral work.
Organizational Leader: Serves as a member of the C-team, responsible for collectively managing the organization including assessing, monitoring, and managing risk & exposure; leading change initiatives and cross-organizational strategic priorities; developing and enforcing systems that align with our commitment to realizing a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion; developing and reviewing organizational policy and representing your team’s work at board meetings.
Team Leader: Actively– and with cultural intelligence– engages as a senior leader overseeing department directors including strategic plan alignment, goal setting, resource prioritization, systems development and enforcement, staff training, conflict resolution, budget development and management.
Ambassador: Serves as a representative and external relationship builder in key strategic communities with an emphasis on generating revenue and increasing the diversity of the movement.
