Responsibilities
Job Summary:
This position is responsible to lead all financial administration and fiscal management aspects of the company. The accountant will ensure that all team members, including Project Manager, Superintendent, and Engineer are following Policy and Procedures, and will communicate any potential profitability or risk to Management. As an integral part of the Finance team the Office Accountant will provide quality financial services to the CFO including oversee of all AP/AR functions and employee expense reporting. In addition, the candidate must contribute to overall profitability and other goals of our organization.
The candidate maintains appropriate documentation of project-related efforts and carries out various non-project assignments as requested.
Essential Job Functions:
· Set-up, coordinate and evaluate the financial administration, general conditions budgeting, and certain tax reporting for the project.
· Responsible for project assets with respect to insurance and tax requirements, including managing the process.
· Communicate cash position risk issues, including those with respect to unapproved and unfunded change order work in place.
· Implement and maintain internal control safeguards.
· Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports for the projects.
· Set up, lead, oversee and implement procedures to ensure contractual requirements with respect to all financial aspects are followed by all project participants including preconstruction billings, non-reimbursable projections and analysis’s, proper fee billings, and financial contingency reporting.
· Investigate and resolve financial issues on behalf of the company. Coordinate and communicate with owners and vendors in connection with resolving financial disputes and with respect to accounts payable, and accounts receivable issues.
· Ensure project ledger is maintained in accordance with standards of GAAP.
· Analyze and maintain project accounting records.
· Manage and coordinate monthly billings process to owner.
· Administer approval process and compliance and reconciliation.
· Operate closeout process with integrated project management team and make decisions relation to changes and back-charges in the close-out.
· Oversee the A/P and A/R functions.
· Set up processes to handle employee expense reports, petty cash accounts, and miscellaneous general expense.
· Coordinate month-end close
· Review end of the month journal entries and inter-company charges and update as necessary.
· Perform variance balance sheet account analysis and reconciliation.
· Oversee and administer accounts payable including expense reporting process to ensure compliance with company policy.
· Administer general and administrative account and process all invoices for payment.
· Resolve AP calls with vendors.
· Maintain and update legal log.
· Analyze and submit inventory schedule.
· Coordinate accounts receivable process including depositing checks, posting all payments, submitting payment notifications to vendors.
· Cash management: Review bank recs, prepare petty cash recs, forecast cash requirements.
· Interface with CFO and Financial Department
Qualifications
Education: BS in Accounting or related field plus a minimum of two years’ experience in the Construction industry or an equivalent combination of education, training and/ or experience in the Construction industry. Proven written and verbal communication abilities; proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite. Exercises independent judgement and discretion. Ability to identify problems and make recommendations for resolution. Operates with minimal direction and little or no supervision. Ability to perform cost analysis and be organized for maximum efficiency. Excellent knowledge of Accounting Principles to ensure timely and accurate reporting. Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
