Job Description – Accountant

Constellation has an immediate opening for a highly-organized and productive Accountant to join our Homeland Security team. In this role you will work with Constellation to assist US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) with developing process improvements, performing accounting functions, analyzing financial data, monitoring funding levels, matching revenues and expenses, and allocating funding across a nationwide organization.

Core responsibilities:

· Analyze current operating procedures and business practices and developing recommendations and technical solutions for increasing efficiency in operations.

· Prepare financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders. Collects, analyzes, and summarizes accounting data and trends in order to present pertinent information. Presents accounting data in an appropriate format.

· Perform general ledger operations, including analyzing transactions for effects on government assets, liabilities, net position and operations

· Matching revenues and expenses by applying methodologies such as accrual accounting and depreciation

· Determining the proper recording of transactions and ensuring proper documentation and entry of each type of transaction

· Ensures strong internal controls over financial reporting by enforcing policies and procedures

· Evaluate and analyze accounting systems and records to ensure accurate data maintenance and financial position representation and to project trend outcomes.

· Develop, revise and implement financial standards, policies and procedures and to write and revise procedures and instructions relating to internal and external administration and operations.

· Help prepare monthly financial reports, internal management reports, and external regulatory reports

· Help present financial data, progress, and performance metrics information for briefings and other presentations

· Conducting reconciliations of accounts and analyzing data to ensure accurate billing

· Research complex accounting issues and errors to find solutions

· Generate ad-hoc reports for senior leadership

· Build relationships across the organization and become a trusted advisor to senior government leadership

Other Position Requirements:

· US Citizenship and the ability to maintain a security clearance required

· Active U.S. Top Secret or CBP security clearance is preferred

· 8+ years of experience in accounting and process improvement

· Accounting degree or 24 hours of accounting courses from an accredited university.

· Experience with process improvement and process automation

· Experience with billing/collecting/debt management

· Experience using Microsoft Office products, expert knowledge of MS Excel

· Knowledge of USSGL

· Experience using SAP or other ERP system

· Strong analytical skills

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Strong attention to detail

· Ability to work independently or as part of a team

· Demonstrates initiative

· Ability to prioritize multiple tasks/assignments

· Knowledge of the Federal Budgetary process

· Experience in government budget program offices preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
